  • Iloilo City is the regional center.  Is composed of six provinces and the highly urbanized cities of Bacolod and Iloilo
  • Typically western Visayas is found on the west part of the major island of the Philippines which is Visayas it is surrounded by water.

Who gave the name of Panay Island?
A Spaniard named Gonzalo Ronquillo reached the island and also gave the name Pan hay which means "there's a bread (Pan)" in the island. The place was then called Pan-hay which eventually became Panay.
